Countdown to Asia’s Premier Business Aviation Event
2 Months Until ABACE2012
The potential for business aviation in Asia is enormous, given the region’s population, economic activity, and need for transportation to cover the distances between business locations. These factors explain the importance of the Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE2012).
The Show, being presented in partnership with the Shanghai Airport Authority and co-hosted by the National Business Aviation Association, the Asian Business Aviation Association and the Shanghai Exhibition Company, will be held on the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport in the new Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre from March 27 to 29, 2012.
This bulletin is among a series of special reports produced to provide news, highlights and other information as momentum continues building for ABACE2012, which will be the premier industry event in the region.

ABACE2012 Exhibit Floor Sells Out; More Space Added
As the weeks wind down toward the ribbon-cutting that will open ABACE2012, NBAA reports that Exhibitor space on the show floor for the event has sold out, and a first-of-its kind, enclosed Exhibitor Pavilion has been added to accommodate additional Exhibitors. “Clearly, there has been an outpouring of enthusiasm and support in the region and across the international business community for ABACE2012,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “The major airframe manufacturers, leading Asian companies, and the top providers of products and services from around the world have all contracted to exhibit at the show. Demand for exhibit space has exceeded even our expectations, and we are pleased to create this pavilion to provide additional space, with the quality people have come to expect at our events.” Demand has been strong for space in the Exhibitor Pavilion, which will be located immediately adjacent to the main hangar, so NBAA recommends that those wanting to exhibit at ABACE2012 act soon. Top Companies Line Up for Brand-Promoting ABACE2012 Sponsorships
Some of the best-known brands in business aviation are signing up for ABACE2012 sponsorships, which will give companies an outstanding visibility opportunity with top business leaders, decision-makers and buyers from China and across the Asian region, who will be in attendance at the show. Top U.S. Government Official Confirms Participation in ABACE2012
NBAA events are known for featuring senior government officials, and the Association is pleased that the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, John D. Porcari, will be among the featured speakers at the Opening Session of ABACE2012. “We are delighted to welcome Secretary Porcari to Shanghai,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “In his position at the Department of Transportation, he focuses on the key role of transportation in economic development, so we know he will have much to say about the potential for business aviation in promoting job growth and economic activity in China, across the Asian region and around the world. We look forward to hearing his insights and perspectives.” View a biography of Deputy Secretary Porcari.
Business Aviation Leaders Meet with Chinese Government Officials on ABACE2012
On a recent visit to China, NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen met with top officials from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) regarding ABACE2012. Representatives with the General Aviation Manufacturers Association and the Asian Business Aviation Association were also in attendance at the meeting. The delegation of Chinese government officials was led by Xia Xinghua, Deputy Minister of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The two sides discussed not only preparations for ABACE2012, but the long-term development of the business aviation market in the region. ABACE2012 To Include Event With Safety Focus
As part of a continuing effort to improve aviation safety and human performance, Bombardier Business Aircraft is developing plans to host a safety event on Monday, March 26, 2012 in advance of ABACE2012. Bombardier, in partnership with NBAA and others, has taken safety programming from the United States to Europe, South America and Asia with tremendous success. The Shanghai event follows a successful Safety Standdown in Shanghai last June. With the acknowledged importance of the growth opportunities for business aviation in Asia, keeping safety on the forefront will remain an important facet of the industry’s success. Additional details regarding the event will be published in advance of ABACE2012. For more information, contact NBAA’s Doug Carr at dcarr@nbaa.org.
At ABACE2012, Experts To Provide Content For Taking Advantage of Business Aviation in Asia
NBAA shows always feature a comprehensive program of education sessions focused on all aspects of business aviation, to help attendees take advantage of this important asset. That tradition continues at ABACE2012, where a host of sessions will cover aircraft acquisition, utilization options, maintenance, pilot training requirements, technological developments and more. Experts on the issues, from both in and outside the Asian region, will present. For example, a session covering business aviation basics will feature Ms. Jodie Brown with Summit Solutions and Mr. Yingje Zhang, Board Member of AOPA-China. View a list of the education sessions planned for ABACE2012.
Ahead of ABACE2012, NBAA Webinar Will Explore Aircraft Charter in China
